There should be a day of remembrance for the beginning of COVID-19 (April 20) and should stand as a reminder that Canadians can do anything if we band together!
All provinces should share all statutory holidays that the Canadian government implements for their own offices, and we should have more not fewer. North Americans have the least amount paid days off per year of the countries in the free world. Furthermore, business closures on these days should be strictly enforced - yes - even Tim Hortons and other fast food places, gas stations etc.
Boxing Day is observed in BC.
source: Worked at a grocery store for 6 years. It was always scheduled and paid as a stat.
Oh my God everybody needs to stop whining about when the stats are! like really lol
Victoria is not canadian!
It is not that Remembrance Day is not celebrated in ON, it is that it is not a statutory holiday in ON.
The easiest to remember for stat holidays would be for all provinces and territories to all observe the same one.
Boxing Day should be for National and not just ON
Amazing and sickening to see that "Victoria Day" is a statutory holiday in most part of Canada and yet "Father's Day" is merely a "footnote" in Holidays in Canada 2020.
Please note that Victoria Day is NOT a statutory holiday in Quebec. Quebec celebrates Patriots Day on the same date as Victoria Day is celebrated in several provinces.
Mothers day is a footnote holiday almost everywhere. As is Father's Day, so I'm not sure what beef you have with Victoria day
since when is remembrance day not celebrated in Ontario??
Good Friday is a national holiday. Quebec is also off that day. Not sure why this website has it listed wrong.
Amazing and sickening to see that "Victoria Day" is a statutory holiday in most part of Canada and yet "Mother's Day" is merely a "footnote" in Holidays in Canada 2020..
Do semi Truck drivers get paid for Louis Riel day when they fall under Federal?
According to the government of Canada website and the CRA, Boxing Day is a nationally recognized holiday.
Boxing day is not a legal stat holiday accross Canada.
As with many other Christian celebrations, many of our Easter symbols and traditions today have their roots in paganism. When the emperor Constantine of Rome converted to Christianity and decided that it was the only religion of the empire, the Christian religious leaders integrated many...

Leap year in 2020 yay! Leap years are every 4 years but every 100 years we skip a leap year unless the year is divisible by 400. For example 2000 was a leap year because it's divisible by 400. 2100, 2200 and 2300 won't be leap year but 2400 will be. :)
Terry Fox Day in Manitoba is the same day as the Civic Holiday in August.
Manitoba also observes Remembrance Day, which is a National holiday.
Boxing day is not a recognized holiday provincially in BC.
I believe Boxing Day is across Canada, not just Ontario
Boxing Day is a statutory holiday in Newfoundland and Labrador. Please up date list.
Important to remember that Aboriginal Day is actually known as National Indigenous Peoples Day, and it's observed nationally. The Gov't of Canada website has a page for it.
As a Scot, living on the Isle of Lewis, I logged in to check dates for my next holiday but I agree with the idea of scrapping Victoria Day and making it Veterans Day. We are all still very aware of the substantial sacrifices Canadians have made defending us and freedom.
I agree that we should have a whole day to commemorate the heroes, from every war where Canadians volunteered and gave their lives so others could live in freedom
When Canada Day is on a Wednesday you get Wednesday off. Not two days before or two day after :)
I'm wondering, which two days do we get off for Canada day if it is on a wednesday? The thursday and Friday (july 2 & 3) or the monday and tuesday (june 29 & 30)?
It is unbelievable to me that we observe Queen Victoria Day as a National Holiday but only give our fallen Vets one minute of silence on Remembrance Day in Ontario. I think this is disgraceful!! Give our fallen Vets the respect they deserve! If not for them, we would probably not have Canada Day to celebrate!!
In 2019 BC aligns its Family Day with the rest of the provinces offering a stat holiday in February.
Family day is not usually the same day in Vancouver as in Hamilton,ON. I know this because we have family there we visit but this year it says above that it's the same day. Is this correct?
